Need a vlookup I think

Excel isn't my specialist subject so here's hoping you can help please. I need to fill down column D with the values from column A that match the vehicle names. For example D11 to D21 will be 7

Any help will be very much appreciated

=Index($A:$A,Match(C2,$B:$B,0))

I wasn't really on the right track with a vlookup was I?

vlookup wont work here cause you aren't looking from left to right i.e. selecting a value to lookup up and moving x cells to the right and looking in that range to find it.

the match-index nest works for these occurrences.
