need Formula Please

Excel 2007
Cell A contains the following data
HALCHAK JR, JOHN 10/31/2010 10/28/2010 Williams 9

I need a formula for cell E and F
Cell E needs to extract the first date from Cell A (in this example it would be 10/31/2010)

Cell F needs to extract the second date from Cell A (in this example it would be 10/28/2010)

There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
Sort by date Sort by votes
It works if the date is always mm/dd/yyyy
but if the date is m/dd/yyyy of mm/d/yyyy

How can I force the date to be mm/dd/yyyy

Excel 2007 does not seem to have a custom date
