# Need formula to check if cells below are <

#### bill_s1416

##### Board Regular
I have a spreadsheet and in column g are values that are "supposed" to be in ascending order (I can't re-sort the data and I don't want to bore anybody with the explanation.) I need to put a formula in column h that checks if the corresponding cell in g is greater than "any" of the cells below it.

### Excel Facts

Difference between two dates
Secret function! Use =DATEDIF(A2,B2,"Y")&" years"&=DATEDIF(A2,B2,"YM")&" months"&=DATEDIF(A2,B2,"MD")&" days"

In H1 assuming your numbers start in G1, in cell H1 put

=COUNTIF(\$G2:\$G\$27,"<"&G1)>0

and copy down.

Might also want to take a look at the RANK function.

=\$G\$1>G2 and drag down

or

=COUNTIF(G2:G100,"<"&G1)

Something like this?

Assuming you have 100 rows from row 2 to 101 and are putting this formula in H2 to check to see that G2 < G3....G101

=IF(G2>MIN(G3:\$G\$101),"Out of Order","")

Then copy down from H2 to H101.

Excel contains over 450 functions, with more added every year. That’s a huge number, so where should you start? Right here with this bundle.
