I have a worksheet that I need half of the cells locked for editing. I have a macro that executes when a user clicks in a specific range. This macro is used to set a rating for the subject line by changing the fill color of the cell. Every way that I have tried to lock some cells and not others, errors out in my code at the "Interior.color" line. Any ideas about how to combine protection and fill color?

Excel Facts

Return population for a City
If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.
Does this help:

Private Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal Target As Range)

ActiveSheet.Unprotect Password:="yourPassword"

[your code]

ActiveSheet.Protect Password:="yourPassword", DrawingObjects:=True, Contents:=True, Scenarios:=True

End Sub
