I have a column of cells with a date formatting like Jun-04. I would like to place a column beside it that has the serial date so I can sort the column in chronological order. Any ideas? Thanks,

Eddie

How to fill five years of quarters?
Type 1Q-2023 in a cell. Grab the fill handle and drag down or right. After 4Q-2023, Excel will jump to 1Q-2024. Dash can be any character.

Are these actually dates, just formatted for month/year?

If they are then you shouldn't need to change them to sort them.

Good Point

This works! Maybe I'm retarded. Sorry to waste your time.
