Hi,

I am trying to make a pivot using external database in excel: (from other sources, ms query, excel)
However, I am getting an error, "this data source contains no visible tables."
Could you please check and let me know what could be the reason.

Thanks,
Yogita

Excel Facts

Links? Where??
If Excel says you have links but you can't find them, go to Formulas, Name Manager. Look for old links to dead workbooks & delete.
That message will show if the source data does not have any 'defined name' ranges other than dynamic named ranges (which don't work for data queries).

If you see 'options' then select it and then choose the option to show system tables. With this setting the worksheet names should be selectable as data sources. So, then even without defined name ranges, worksheet/s can be the data souce.
