Hello:

Can you guide me how to get a count in C11 and C12 using formula.

I also tried using a pivot table but can't figure out how to make it work.

Format cells as date
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+3 to format cells as date. (Shift 3 is the # sign which sort of looks like a small calendar).

You need to split the ranges and put them in their own cells - then you can use SUMifS()

If you are unable (or unwilling) yo break out the ranges, try this...
=SUMIFS($C$3:$C$7,$B$3:$B$7,">="&LEFT(B11,2),$B$3:$B$7,"<="&RIGHT(B11,2))
