Sorry didnt have enough room!!!!, im trying to populate the above so that:

I need a formula which will work out the SUM of "count" in COLUMN A sheet 1, IF (a) the Errors are the Same (b) if they have been registered on the same Date.

This is to populate Sheet 2, so i can work out how many times each error has occured on a day to day basis.

Try this in B4, copied over and down.

=Sumproduct(--(Sheet1!$C$2:$C$30=$A4),--(Sheet1!$B$2:$B$30=B$2),Sheet1!$A$2:$A$30)

Another option is to use a Pivot Table. You'll get the result automatically (not only the values of the counts, but also the layout with the names of the errors and the dates).
