need help with formula based on 2 criterias

OK, what I have is Percentages listed in cells C5:DA5 and numbers in cells C6:DA6 relating to the percentages. What i need to do is have it search C5:DA5 for the number closest to 75% but not over and based on those matches (normally 2-3 match) it looks at the cells C6:DA6 of the previous matches and returns the highest number. Then from the match I need the highest number it found in C6:DA6 displayed. im not sure that i explained it the easiest if you have any questions please ask.

Thanks in advance, ive been trying to figure this out and cant.

Array entered**:

=INDEX(C6:DA6,MATCH(MAX(IF(C5:DA5<0.75,C5:DA5)),C5:DA5,0))

** array formulas need to be entered using the key combination of CTRL,SHIFT,ENTER (not just ENTER). Hold down both the CTRL key and the SHIFT key then hit ENTER.

I think I may have misunderstood...

Try this array formula**:

=MAX(IF(C5:DA5=MAX(IF(C5:DA5<0.75,C5:DA5)),C6:DA6))

** array formulas need to be entered using the key combination of CTRL,SHIFT,ENTER (not just ENTER). Hold down both the CTRL key and the SHIFT key then hit ENTER.

Just so we understand what you want...

In the sample data the closest value to 75% without going over is 74%.

The max value that corresponds to 74% is 69.

Is that what you want?

If so, the second formula I suggested will do that.

A tolerance value (Adjust to suit).

A5: 75%

A6, control+shift+enter, not just enter:

=MAX(IF(C5:K5<=A5,IF(A5-C5:K5<=A4,C6:K6)))

Adjust the references [ C5:K5 and C6:K6 ]to suit .
