The above data is the sample, whenever there is a word pending, excel should automatically send TASK mail to the respective person to his outlook or a reminder in the outlook, with the start date and end date along with activity as a subject line. I am using 2007 excel and Outlook.

I am very new to VBA, it would be great if someone sends me the code from the scratch.

Please note, sometime there will be multiple user who are on pending.

Regards,
Ron

Excel Facts

Links? Where??
If Excel says you have links but you can't find them, go to Formulas, Name Manager. Look for old links to dead workbooks & delete.
have to ask about the logic, as every time you trigger it the pending would be applied

not sure how familiar you are with outlook, you can assign a task from your machine to someone in the time and have it in the task list, as they update you could then get the latest status

Then all you might want to do is keep a log in excel, showing the task, date assigned, date due and completed, and let outlook do the donkey work

New > Task Request

Hi,

I am quite familiar with outlook, but the problem at my office is there are many employees who have lot of activity pending, so rather than sending it manually, we can create macro which identifies the word pending and sends the task to the respective people to their outlook that would be great.

Regards,
Ron....

Hi,

I did try out the code, but there is two problem,

1. the code doesn't capture any start date and end date as per my table, if the below code can capture the dates and add it under the content of the mail that would be great.

2. This is send a mail, but I would like to send a reminder in the outlook.

The below code as per the link

Sub TestFile_2()
Dim OutApp As Object
Dim OutMail As Object
Dim cell As Range
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
Set OutApp = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")
On Error GoTo cleanup
For Each cell In Columns("B").Cells.SpecialCells(xlCellTypeConstants)
If cell.Value Like "?*@?*.?*" And _
LCase(Cells(cell.Row, "C").Value) = "yes" _
And LCase(Cells(cell.Row, "D").Value) <> "send" Then
Set OutMail = OutApp.CreateItem(0)
On Error Resume Next
With OutMail
.To = cell.Value
.Subject = "Reminder"
.Body = "Dear " & Cells(cell.Row, "A").Value _
& vbNewLine & vbNewLine & _
"Please contact us to discuss bringing " & _
"your account up to date."
'You can add files also like this
'.Attachments.Add ("C:\test.txt")
.Send 'Or use Display
End With
On Error GoTo 0
Cells(cell.Row, "D").Value = "send"
Set OutMail = Nothing
End If
Next cell
cleanup:
Set OutApp = Nothing
Application.ScreenUpdating = True
End Sub

Not sure about the reminder bit, but if you have space for a helper cell, then in there to could create a trigger that put as value such as 1 there

i.e if the word pending exists, and the date is between start and end then send, but then you get into the pending that has passed the end date and need the logic to say OVERDUE

as a thought
