97010 = hot/cold price charge is =25 dollars
97012=mechanical traction, price charge is =38.
the second database is blank, but i want to do it is.... When i key in 97010 in the new database, for example when i key in 97010, hot/cold and price will appear on the current database. How can i do that

Excel Facts

Format cells as time
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+2 to format cells as time. (Shift 2 is the @ sign).
Typically:

1) In the current database creata a link to the table in the other database (Access 2003: File Menu | Get External Data... | Link Tables)

2) In the current database create a form for interacting with your data (the form where you will input the data).

3) Add two textboxes to the form, the first for input the second to show the price.

4) Now you can use a DLookup() formula in the second textbox to update price/description based on code entered in the first textbox.

This is somewhat complicated stuff at first. Start slow with basic form operations (viewing data, adding data). Create some test databases for your learning. Move up to more sophisticated stuff as you get comfortable with the basics.

Sites for learning:

I personally like to just read a book. This one was very good to get the basics without getting too big:
access forms and reports (book - mcfedries)
(I think there may be a 2007 edition now).

I think this was also pretty readable:
Access vba programming for dummies (book - Stockman, Simpson)
This was also good for vba programming (especially if if you are interested in ADO):
Automating Microsoft Access with VBA (book - Gunderloy, Harkins)

Good luck. Access is not for the feint of heart. Do be sure to be up to speed on basic SQL and basic database design.
database design for mere mortals (book - Hernandez)
sql in ten minutes (book - Forta)
learning sql (book - Beaulieu)
