So, most likely, the correct answer will start with =D5 or will at least include = and D5 somewhere
in the equation. I need a drag-down formula.

Just to clarify - is the issue that you are not getting the correct result, or that it is showing the formula and not a calculated value?
If the issue is that you are seeing the formula and not the calculated value, that means that your cells are pre-formatted to be "Text".
Change the format of the cell to "General", and re-enter the formula, and you will see the result of the formula instead of the formula itself.

There appear to be way to many possible formats.
Without a complete explanation of the logic we need to use to get the correct values, I cannot help you any further.
