I have a 2-variable scatter plot of about 50 points. about half of the pairs are female and half male. i know that you can use a third variable (column for sex) to color the data points on the chart, but i have forgotten how.

any help would be appreciated.

thanks

Hi lazarus,

There are several different ways to do this. One way that doesn't require any code is to simply divide the male and female values into two different columns, which can be done using a formula in each column that lists just the values that are the desired gender. Then you can use two different series with different point colors to plot the results, and would look the same as if a single series with differently-colored points was used.

A second way is to use VBA code to color the points of a single series based on the gender. This is not difficult to do and I would be happy to email you a simple demo of this type of capability if you request it via email.
