Have a cell that changes thoughout the day via a DDE feed over which I have no control. I need to know what the high water mark (max) value was for that day without sitting and watching it for 8 hours.

I would prefer to do this with formula's instead of VBA.

Any idea's??

Whats the difference between CONCAT and CONCATENATE?
The newer CONCAT function can reference a range of cells. =CONCATENATE(A1,A2,A3,A4,A5) becomes =CONCAT(A1:A5)

Hi, yankee428,

You can't "catch" and "hold" values with formulas
If the source changes it's evident that the result will change too.

you can use a function or a worksheet_change event like this
Code:
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
If Target.Address <> Range("A1").Address Then Exit Sub
If Range("A1") > Range("B1") Then Range("B1") = Range("A1")
End Sub
cell A1 is the updated one
cell B1 catches the highest value

kind regards,
Erik

Code:
Sub answer()
If yankee428 = grateful Then MsgBox "you're welcome", 48, "msg from Erik"
End Sub
