not sure why I don't know this but i'm sure one of you do. I need to make a formula that will take a cost and then divide it by a number and then round it up.

Basically I do this currently using two formulas:

a2/.6=X

then ROUNDUP(a2,.10)-.1

Basically i'm trying to add 40 percent margin, round it up and then have it end in 99 cents.

Excel Facts

Remove leading & trailing spaces
Save as CSV to remove all leading and trailing spaces. It is faster than using TRIM().
Try this. Adds the 40% margin to A2, rounds up to the next dollar, then subtracts a penny.

=ROUNDUP((A2/0.6),0)-0.01

You could use something like this
Code:
=ROUNDUP(QUOTIENT(A1,.6),.10)-.01
