Need to eliminate the Ford from "98 Ford"

For example, the cells in my column are like this:

98 Ford
67 Chevy
01 Expedition
etc...

How do I write a forumla to eliminate the Ford, Chevy, Expedition, etc... from each cell?

=LEFT(A1,FIND(" ",A1)-1)

Or to return the result as a number

=LEFT(A1,FIND(" ",A1)-1)+0

Assuming your data is in cells A1:A3, you could put this formula in cell B1 and copy it down:

=LEFT(A1,2)

What is the formula if the number varies. For example, I have a download that comes accross as followes:

$2155.37 Rocky Mtn Power
$37.43 Post Register
$521.36 Call Oil

How do a write a formula to pull the dollars away from the vendor when the download comes in the above format?
