need to find a percentage increase

I am hung on a formula!! I need to find the percentage increase betweeb two years. Can anyone help me with the formula for figuring this out?

Last years totals were $3,576,600 and this years totals were 3,822,650. My instucter keeps coming up with 3.3% which I don't find correct.

Yeah, that's why I am confused the dollar increase was $246,050 and I come up with 6.9%

Thank you very much. I am taking microcomputer applications in college and this is actually for a take home test and i was baffeled as to why I was coming up different, thank you for confirming the fact my instucter is wrong in his figures
