Need to get rid of negative numbers

Subtracting one column from another that sometimes results in a negative number....instead of a negative number i want the result displayed as 0.001

Select the data and press Alt+F1 to insert a default chart. You can change the default chart to any chart type
A pointless alternative (but it works).

=--TEXT(A1-B1,"[<0]""0.001"";0.000")

ABS won't return .001 if it is a negative number.

Try 4 in A1 and 7 in B1.

but not quite the same result if a1-b1 = anything between .001 and 0

You are right.

I assumed that since the OP wants negatives as 0.001 and not 0 that 0.001 was ok as a minimum value. I should, however, have written this.
