Needing to press Alt twice when pasting special from another workbook

I have two excel workbooks open. I copy from workbook A, alt+tab to switch to workbook B and then press alt to access the hotkey menu (intending to use alt + esv), but the menu is not being accessed and I have to press alt a second time to complete the operation.

I fixed this on my old computer but just got a new one and can't find the fix online, or remember what I did to fix this last time. Any pro users out there know what I'm dealing with?

If you have a numeric keypad, press Alt+7 on numeric keypad to type a bullet in Excel.

Rather being rude to somebody who is trying to help, why not explain what is wrong with the suggestion?
Jason's suggestion brings up the same dialogue box as Alt E S

Not trying to be rude, just trying to get an answer to the question I asked. There are many ways of pasting something from one workbook to another in excel, I am trying to figure out how to do it the way I explained without having to hit alt twice.

If you are only going to accept a very particular answer, then I suggest to specify that in future.
Jason's suggestion does exactly what you asked (IMO), in that you don't need to press Alt twice.

Thought it was pretty clear -- the alt button isn't doing what it is supposed to do after alt+tabbing between two excel workbooks. For those among us who require another wording of the same question, here it is:

When I alt+tab from Workbook A to Workbook B, the 1st press of the alt button does not bring up the hotkey menu. How do I fix that issue?

I've no idea how you fixed it before, or exactly what you want, but if you hold the Alt key down for about a second the tooltips appear & you can then type e (without releasing the Alt key)

If one method doesn't do what you want it to then common sense says to try another.
