Hi, If I enter "Transfer to" in cell C1 then I want the numeric value that will be entered in cell E1 to be negative. As usual I have tried all sorts of stuff to no avail. Hope someone doesn't mind helping.

Copy and paste this macro into the worksheet code module.
VBA Code:
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
    If Target.CountLarge > 1 Then Exit Sub
    If Intersect(Target, Range("E4", Range("E" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp))) Is Nothing Then Exit Sub
    Application.ScreenUpdating = False
    Application.EnableEvents = False
    If Target.Offset(, -2) = "Transfer to" Then
        Target = Target * -1
    End If
    Application.EnableEvents = True
    Application.ScreenUpdating = True
End Sub

Solution

Excel Facts

How to fill five years of quarters?
Type 1Q-2023 in a cell. Grab the fill handle and drag down or right. After 4Q-2023, Excel will jump to 1Q-2024. Dash can be any character.
Copy and paste this macro into the worksheet code module.
VBA Code:
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
    If Target.CountLarge > 1 Then Exit Sub
    If Intersect(Target, Range("E4", Range("E" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp))) Is Nothing Then Exit Sub
    Application.ScreenUpdating = False
    Application.EnableEvents = False
    If Target.Offset(, -2) = "Transfer to" Then
        Target = Target * -1
    End If
    Application.EnableEvents = True
    Application.ScreenUpdating = True
End Sub
Thats perfect. Thank you so much, really appreciated.
