I have a few users who are reporting some type of "new" saving progress bar that comes up in Excel. It comes up in the middle of the screen, stays for maybe 30 or so seconds and goes away versus the normal saving progress which is at the bottom right in Excel. It does save the document but due to the lengthy save process, those users don't like it. This is only for 5 or 6 users (small office) but only started out with 1 user. When it was only one user, Excel behaved like normal for the others but now it seems to be everyone. This happens for any Excel document as well.

I have not been able to replicate the issue on my own device using the same documents, so it almost has to be machine based or software based. All users, including myself, use Office 365.

I've attached the screen shot from the normal/current way the progress bar is displayed and the "new" progress bar that has been coming up.

I have never seen this before this week. Curious if anyone else has and if so, if this is something Microsoft has pushed out or an Excel issue.

I believe I was able to find out the cause. Something I failed to mention was that all the users were saving to a network location (file server) and was able to find an article that shared my symptoms (Saving Progress Box with Green Bar). In said article, AV on the server was the cause so I checked there. Nothing has changed settings wise for the AV I use. I did repair on the AV and after said repair, this saving pop-up no longer comes up (for now).

In my case, seems to just have been a wonky update for the AV and doing a repair fixed it.
