New to excel:formulas with multiple sheets

I have several wksheets, 1st is master, second is list of names and email addresses. On the master I have column that i want to say, if in this group, return value yes/no. I have about 10 worksheets with basically same information except for Last log on. I've tried =lookup and vlookup to no avail. The names are listed as last, first.
Any help would be very appreciated!

On second sheet, Y/N Y/N
user name active Email address groupA GroupB @yahoo.com N y

I need to bring info on all subsheets to master sheet
I've tried, if found in this column, put a yes in group column on master
