Can anyone help please?

I have an an excel spreadsheet that tracks plant on a construction site.

when an item is delivered the information is entered onto the tracker worksheet; plant category, description, delivery date, qty delivered etc.

when an item leaves site you click on a hyperlink for that item and it takes you to the off hire worksheet where you enter; qty off hired, date off hired etc.

when we audit our plant we wish to sort it by plant category. The off hire sheet is automatically populated from the tracker (=TRACKER!M5) for example.

So the off hire data no longer matches the correct description as the description has changed during sorting on the Tracker sheet.

I've tried $ signs etc but it's not the cells I need to reference to, it's the text within them.

Can you move keep cells with inputted data in them relative to a cell dependant on text? i've tried thinking if other ways to format my sheet but I can't find a solution.

i'm really stuck.

Thanks,

rob
