I am a newbie who is working on an estimating workbook that contains a estimating worksheet named "Estimate Master" and an "Materails" worksheet.

The"Materails" worksheet contains a range of cells that contain data and formula's that relate to a specific types of material.

I want to copy a range on the "Materails" worksheet and paste it to the "Estimate Master" worksheet.

I want to be able to paste this range anywhere on the "Estimate Master" worksheet based on the row that is selected.

Any help would be appreciated

Excel Facts

Can you sort left to right?
To sort left-to-right, use the Sort dialog box. Click Options. Choose "Sort left to right"
ok follow this step by step and if i understand you right this will be what you are trying to achieve.....

for the sake of speed i will refer to your estimate sheet as sheet1 and your material sheet as sheet 2

go to sheet 2 and
in a1 type mat in a2 type cat in a3 type rat
in b1 type A in b2 type B and in c2 type C
in c1 type 1 in c2 type 2 and in c3 type 3

now highlight a1,a2 and a3, click in the white box just above the "A" column and type in estimate

go to sheet 1 and enter this formula in cell b1

=IF($A$1="mat",Sheet2!B1,IF($A$1="cat",Sheet2!C1,IF($A$1="rat",Sheet2!C1,"")))

copy that formula down to b3

click on a1...select data...validation and in the allow box pick "list" in the source box type in =estimate and press enter

you should now have a drop down box in a1 that once selected will bring up data depending on what was selected.

hope that helps

"now highlight a1,a2 and a3, click in the white box just above the "A" column and type in estimate"

i forgot to tell you to hit enter after you type in estimate.

if someone else can show me a better way than with the if statements i'd appreciate it.
