I have a named range on a worksheet which I am using for a dropped down list on a seperate sheet. The drop down works but if I type in something wrong it won't it just clears it but no error.

I have the ignore blanks unchecked and the show error after alert checked.

Why can't I get the error message to come up?

Excel Facts

Ambidextrous Undo
Undo last command with Ctrl+Z or Alt+Backspace. If you use the Undo icon in the QAT, open the drop-down arrow to undo up to 100 steps.
I apologize - I was probably leading you down the wrong path, sorry.

I was looking at Data Validation rather than a ListBox.

No you where fine that is what I was working with. The issue corrected when I closed all the excel sheets I had opened and re-opened it. Now I need to figure how to keep pasting from removing he validation.

hide the column or better yet unlock all cells on worksheet, then go back & LOCK cells containing list & protect the worksheet.
