I have been getting a message when opening Excel everytime I log in the above message appears and I have to click on the message box 6 times before it goes away.

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this message as it is very annoying.

Thanks a lot

It is not a problem when opening a new document, I haven't changed or added any additional formatting. It is when I initially open Excel itself.

Sharon,

According to Excel's help file, the maximum number of custom number formats is limited by available memory. What's your memory resource relative to the applications that you are running?

You are not alone with your problem. Go to Google's Group search at: http://groups.google.com

In the Goggle search box put something like:

"excel error message custom number formats" (without the apostrophes). There are approx. 1,400 hits.

There does not appear to be a short answer. The Google search provides a number of links to various sites that offer free macros that clean out unused custom formats. Some posters report that cleaning out unused custom formats made the problem go away.

Good luck,

Mike
