Noobie equation question

Hi, I'm using Excel 2007 and I'm wondering if Microsoft Equation Editor 3.0 does more than just display formulas. As equations can get pretty complex, it would be alot easier to enter the formula as I find it in my text book, rather than figure out the syntax and type it the hard way.

Is this possible?

Nope, it just edits for presentation. Equation Editor is the baby brother of Design Science's MathType (http://www.dessci.com/en/products/mathtype/default.htm).
