Notation within a formula

Hi

Is it possible in Excel to insert a notation within formulas (not within VB)

for example;
=Sumproduct(A3:A99..........)) "this calculates the whatever"

It was possible in Quatro and I wondered if such an ability existed in Excel

Excel Facts

VLOOKUP to Left?
Use =VLOOKUP(A2,CHOOSE({1,2},\$Z\$1:\$Z\$99,\$Y\$1:\$Y\$99),2,False) to lookup Y values to left of Z values.

You can do it with the "N()" function. The function returns a zero if the value in the brackets is text, so
Code:
``= 15 + N("15 estimated by Bill")``
will return 15.

I have always found it a bit clumsy, and preferred cell notes or descriptive labels in adjacent text - but to each his own, I guess...
