Excel 2003: I have some web queries, some not all of these numbers down load as text, when I want to sort things it works because excel will ask me if I want to sort anything that looks like a number, and I say yes so it will sort but it looks terrible and it creates problems later because I have macros looking for numbers and some of my numbers are clearly showing as text. I need whole numbers no decimals. I have tried to format the sheet and also tried formatting the column but it has no effect. The note I am getting from excel is that the number is formatted as text proceeded by an apostrophe. I am guessing that if I can remove the apostrophe then it would respond to the fact that the column is formatted as whole numbers. So I need to know how to remove the apostrophe?

Excel Facts

How to find 2nd largest value in a column?
MAX finds the largest value. =LARGE(A:A,2) will find the second largest. =SMALL(A:A,3) will find the third smallest
Try this: select a column of numbers, Data > Text to Columns, check delimited, click Finish.
