Greetings,

I'm using ms excel 2007 in a Windows environment. Does anyone know of a technique or macro that can number a blank column based on blank rows? What I need, is stating in column "a" cell "a2"(which is blank) to number each cell down with the number 1 until it reaches a blank row then skip the blank and start with number 2 until it reaches a blank column and continue with 3,4 5 etc and stop when it identifies 2 consectutive blank rows. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Best Regards,
Devera

Welcome to the Board!

With questions like these, visuals are often very helpful.
Can you show us what your data looks like initially, and what you want your desired result to look like?

MrExcel has a tool called “XL2BB” that lets you post samples of your data that will allow us to copy/paste it to our Excel spreadsheets, so we can work with the same copy of data that you are. Instructions on using this tool can be found here: XL2BB Add-in

Note that there is also a "Test Here” forum on this board. This is a place where you can test using this tool (or any other posting techniques that you want to test) before trying to use those tools in your actual posts.
