Number Formatting When Referencing A Cell

Hi,
I have a cell eg A1 with a number $60,000.

In cell B1 I would like the cell to show "The total amount is $60,000 after improvement" referencing cell A1 as I change the figure.

The problem I am having is that when I combine text with the cell reference I get "The total amount is 60000 after improvement". The dollar sign and comma are missing.

Could someone please advise how I would reference a cell along with text with numerical formatting?

Much thanks!

Excel Facts

Formula for Yesterday
Name Manager, New Name. Yesterday =TODAY()-1. OK. Then, use =YESTERDAY in any cell. Tomorrow could be =TODAY()+1.
maybe something like...

="The total amount is "&TEXT(A1,"$#,##0")&" after improvement"
