Number of Specific months between two dates?

I want to calculate the number of specific months, between two dates?
For example: I want to know the number of September and January Months between 1-June-2006 to 24-December-2010. Please help with a Formula that can do this.

Thanks for the formula to count the number of months between two dates - my requirement a little further - i need a formula that will allow me to find out the number of specific months between two dates. For example: i want to find out the number of January and September months between 1st July 2006 to 1st February 2011?
