Hi,

I am copying some data ran from a system that is then pasted into excel. The souce data comes accross as a .CSV file.

Some of the data has shown as below:

6.9E+235 etc etc

When trying to re-format the cell to 'number' there were multiple 00000's after the initial first few numbers..

I have tried all the other formatting in excel to change this.

Might there be a problem with the source data or is there a way of formatting this correctly in excel?

Many Thanks
Lucy

Excel Facts

Enter current date or time
Ctrl+: enters current time. Ctrl+; enters current date. Use Ctrl+: Ctrl+; Enter for current date & time.
Try formatting the cells as Text before pasting.

Excel will only display numbers to 15 digits - after that they become 0 as you've seen.

Many thanks, I'll try that!

I run the data through a macro first before copying from CSV and have to reduce the decimal places down to 0 as some will appear with +2 decimals, so I'll try some different combinations of formatting..

Thanks
Lucy
