hi

quick question

is it possible and if so how,

i have 4 cells one on top of another that contain 3,6,7,4 these add up to 20, is it possible to always have them add to 20, so if i enter a numbers, 4,3,4,5 which is 16, the numbers will change to equal 20.

thanks

Excel Facts

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
... using what logic precisely? What will be the trigger for the VBA that does this, also?

What has the rest of that table to do with the 4 numbers? I see that they are used in the calcs. Is that it?

You are not sure of the logic ... do you have any rules that should be followed at all? E.g. should they always be integers? Should they all be different? Do you want to the ratios of your original numbers to be maintained????

hi

just to show what its for,

and the ratio is for 20 and is divided by the 4 numbers, all the data then changes accordingly, just to make sure that the 4 numbers equal 20 at all times,

Just have an extra column of formulas next to your numbers that scale them to total 20 then, and refer to those in your formulas:
