Numbers stored as text

When I run reports and import them into excel (2003) the numbers in my descriptions are stored as text. Is there a way for me to tell excel to always convert "numbers stored as text" in a specific workbook to numbers?

VLOOKUPs and INDEX functions are not picking up the value because they are stored as text.

I can click on the cell and use the drop down, but I import these numbers a few times a day and there are hundreds of numbers that I wuold like to change automatically.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Round to nearest half hour?
Use =MROUND(A2,"0:30") to round to nearest half hour. Use =CEILING(A2,"0:30") to round to next half hour.
Hi,

Have you tried highlighting the column with the numbers and using text to columns -> delimited?

Cheers,
Jon

CAnnot change part of a merged cell.

That is the error I got with the Text to Columns delimited.
