In excel I type a number such as 01234, and excel knocks of the first zero. How do I make it retain the number ?
 

Excel Facts

Create a chart in one keystroke
Select the data and press Alt+F1 to insert a default chart. You can change the default chart to any chart type
Format the cells as Text.

You can still perform operations on the contents although using this method you need to use a general format cell for formulas.

The other way is a custom format but that seems to lock it to x digits and adds that amount of 0's
