Hi Mr. Excel, I have set up an ODBC to a SQL 2005 server to link the tables. I have set the ODBC up correctly and when i test the connection it is successful i nthe set up wizard. However once i try to open this table or query against it the connection fails. is there a setting in Access 2007 that enables the dialog box to enter the sql
credential in like access 2003?

Many thanks in advance

How can you automate Excel?
Press Alt+F11 from Windows Excel to open the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) editor.
In access 2007 look at the External Data tab and you will find an option that states more in there on the right hand side to the import group, it has ODBC connections in there.

Thanks Trevor,

I had all the menu item hidden so after opening with holding down the SHIFT key I was able to navigate to the right settings (not to intuitive though) and make the appropiate edits.

Thanks again
