I have an old version of excel i think dating back to 97. Does anyone no how I can read files from newer excel. I keep getting a message saying excel cannot read the file.

Many thanks in advance.

When they said...
When they said you are going to "Excel at life", they meant you "will be doing Excel your whole life".
I'm not sure that you can unless the files are saved in the newer version as "Microsoft Excel 97 & 5/95"

Unless, of course, anyone else has any suggestions.

Can the person who created the files in the newer version open them & save as above?
