Good news...my son was able to recover some files I created using Quattro Pro...the bad news is... I can't figure out how to open them in Excel and no longer have Quattro to open them. I've tried importing them every way I can think of, but no luck. Any ideas on opening these files or am I just out of luck?

Thanks!

Excel Facts

Wildcard in VLOOKUP
Use =VLOOKUP("Apple*" to find apple, Apple, or applesauce
Have tried Files>Open...?

And then use the Files of Type dropdown?

depending on your install of office you will need the quattro pro converters installed, if you are running office 95 they may well be there, versions there after a bit trickier, try this for starters

windows control panel > add remove programs> microsoft office > CHANGE > ADD REMOVE FEATURES > a tree structure will open, firstly look under Microsoft Excel and see if there is mention of QP converter, click the little V arrow and select Run from this computer

If it is not there, come out of the Microsoft Excel leg and choose Converters and Filters and see if it is mentioned in there if so, click the down arrow and install, then click on update now.

If it is a very old QP file, you may need to go thru earlier versions of Office for the QP version to be recognised.

if you really get stuck, i have found my discs for Office 95, Office 97 and Office 2000, so you can email them to me and I can try and convert and return

Wow!!! What a kind offer and I may end up taking advantage of it as I've had no luck this evening. I think part of the problem with converting it is that I run Windows 64 bit on my new computer. I have not had any trouble opening and using Excel files...just my newly found Quattro Pro files.

Before I burden you with the task, I'll take an inventory of what I can't open, & prioritize what I'd REALLY like to have back. Most of it is boring "stuff"...I've kept rainfall records for the island where we live since mid 1982..not much use except for a local meterolgist and sometimes the National Weather Service.

Please do not feel obligated to follow through...the world will continue to spin if I can't ever access the data...it's not like I've locked away the cure for stupidity in those files and MUST have it!

Thanks again for your offer!
