Hi,
In one of the systems in our office, when any excel file is opened, it gives a message that "Excel.exe has encountered a serious problem and is going to shut down.". But if I am opening the same file in excel (in safemode) in the same system I can work on that file. How can this be sorted out.
TIA

Excel Facts

Add Bullets to Range
Select range. Press Ctrl+1. On Number tab, choose Custom. Type Alt+7 then space then @ sign (using 7 on numeric keypad)
One possible solution would be to reinstall Excel on that one computer. If that fails, then, reinstall Microsoft Office.

Let us know how you solved the problem.

The problem is that the system was supplied by the HO with the OS and other applications preloaded, and we don't have the CD's to reinstall.
Now, the "method" used is that, a new shortcut to Excel (to open in safemode is) created and the users are told to click on it first and then open their files through File>Open.

The fix you are using is acceptable to get out of a particular situation, but, it cannot be accepted as an ongoing method of operation.

For a computer supplied with an operating system by the supplier, one can always call the supplier and get the fix through the Internet. Have you tried that yet?

So far, has not tried to get in touch with our Head Office to get the CD's (as it is something very next to impossible...!!!)
