Some users still have 2003 loaded and don't want to upgrade. I tried having them open the .xlsx file, it converts fine, but opens as read only to "protect the original document". They can't save anything.

Is there any fix short of giving them only .xls files ?

Excel Facts

Shade all formula cells
To shade all formula cells: Home, Find & Select, Formulas to select all formulas. Then apply a light fill color.
There may be better ways, but I have 2003 also and I often get 2007 files. What I do is create a new blank sheet, then copy and paste from xlsx to xls. This eliminated the problems I had.
