I am trying to open a file as read-only in Excel 365. Earlier versions of Excel have an Open dialog box which gives you the option to open a file as read-only, but this does not appear in 365, and this option does not appear when I right click on the file. Please help!

Excel Facts

What is =ROMAN(40) in Excel?
The Roman numeral for 40 is XL. Bill "MrExcel" Jelen's 40th book was called MrExcel XL.
Do you not get the options below when you use the Excel Open File dialogue box ?

PS My OS is Windows 10 Enterprise.

I suggest that you update your Account details (or click your user name at the top right of the forum) so helpers always know what Excel version(s) & platform(s) you are using as the best solution often varies by version. (Don’t forget to scroll down & ‘Save’)

To open the file try Ctrl F12 & then you can select to open in Read Only

Clicking on the Browse button on the screen in your screenshot should get you there as well.
Putting the Open Folder icon on your Quick Access Toolbar will work too.
