I am wanting to fill a cell with data from another excel file. That file name will be variable based upon the contents of another cell. For instance

='C:\Logbook\[XXX.xlsx]'A1

Where XXX is a persons name found in cell A1 of the current sheet.

My problem is I cannot figure out the syntax to have the XXX be a variable.

Any help is appriciated, thanks!

Excel Facts

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.
Hi

Try

Code:
Dim varFileName as string
varFileName = Cells(1, 1).value

='C:\Logbook\" & varFileName & ".xls"
