Hi

Has anybody else noticed that, even with Automatic Calculation switched off, subsequently opening up a csv file will make Excel recalculate? This is a pain in the neck to me, and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas how to avoid Excel recalculating?

Thanks

Richard

How can you automate Excel?
Press Alt+F11 from Windows Excel to open the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) editor.
you might try:

Application.Calculation = xlCalculationManual

then your code to open the file

I hadn't noticed, but indeed it does.

One solution is to change the extension to txt and go through the wizard.

Thanks Andrew - I had considered whether changing the extension might avoid it, but it's a pain in the bum to go thru the wizard everytime (altho potentially less than having some of my workbooks recalc).

I'll bear that tip in mind! :biggrin:
