opening message about auto links...

There are about a half dozen coworkers who use our workbook on a network. Somehow, recently when we open it a message appears: "The workbook you opened contains automatic links to information in another workbook. Do you want to update this workbook with changas to another workbook? yes/no" We don't know what caused this, and are afraid to click 'yes' in case someone is unintentionally making changes. Is there any way to remove these links and stop this message from appearing? Thanks!
