Hi

I have a mixture of 2003 and 2007 files to open and processing. These are all password protected and my code opens the 2003 ones fine.

How can I open the 2007 ones? Currently the converter kicks in, converts the file and opens it so that the user is prompted to enter a password. This is trying to be an automated process.! As there are 50 - 100 files to read and more and more will become 2007 over the coming year(s).

Excel Facts

Did you know Excel offers Filter by Selection?
Add the AutoFilter icon to the Quick Access Toolbar. Select a cell containing Apple, click AutoFilter, and you will get all rows with Apple
You will notice .xls extension on 2003 xl
and you will notice .xlsm, .xlsx or w/e for 2007 xl documents.

It would be best not to open 2007 word documents on 2003 word because converter is not stable (may cause unwanted changes to the documents)

So, you might want to change your xl version to 2007 and it should be fine.

I am only working in Excel and using Excel files. I am well aware of the variety of extensions.

Migrating the processing Excel workbook to 2007 would not be trivial, not least because Excel 2007 tells me 'File error: Data may have been lost'. This does not happen in Excel 2003. What research I have attempted has not led me to know what I need to clean in the 2003 version to make it loadable in 2007.
