I have searched and searched and can not find an answer to this. I need to add page numbers in a footer to my excel spread sheet starting with H-2 and then continuing with H-3, H-4, etc. I am working on a mac (I've tried it on a PC also.) I am using Excel for Mac version 14.0.2. I have looked in page set up and tried inputting H-2 to start the numbering but it won't accept a letter in the box (it says integer is not valid). Can anyone help me with this before I pull my hair out (ok maybe that's a little extreme but not much). :)
Thanks

Excel Facts

Highlight Duplicates
Home, Conditional Formatting, Highlight Cells, Duplicate records, OK to add pink formatting to any duplicates in selected range.
In the page setup - select your header or footer and where you want the page number to be. Enter the following: H-[PAGE]

If you actually want the page number on the first page to be 2, you should be able to select that under PageSetup First Page #

I'm working on PC xl2003 and don't claim to know anything about mac

She,

Go easy on that hair. Help is at hand!!

Click View > Header and Footer...
Click 'Customize Footer' then click the Page number icon that shows a #.

This will then insert '&[Page]' which you need to edit to 'H-&[Page]+1

You will then get an H prefix number on all pages.
