Problem: I want my cumulative line in the pareto charts that I create to start in the lower left corner and continue to the upper right.

Background: I frequently make pareto charts for evaluation of our products that have problems. When I create a pareto chart manually in Excel 2007, the cumulative line (setup as "Series 2" in the "Select Data Source" dialog box) always starts in the center of the first bar (See link for examples). I want the data line to start at the lower left corner and continue up to the upper right at 100%. (I then remove the line that goes through the first bar and the line appears to start at the right corner of the first bar (also in the attached link).

Does anyone know the settings I would use to make this happen?

In the upper part of the link, it shows the table I am using for both examples. The data sources are setup as:

Legend Series:
Series 1: Data!$B$2:$B$6 (Creates the bar)
Series 2: Data!$C$1:$C$6 (Creates the line)

Horizontal Labels: Data!$A$2:$A$6

The first chart entitled, "Wrong Pareto Chart", shows what happens when I set it up manually.

The second chart (created with the trial copy of QIMacros), entitled "Right Pareto Chart" shows the formatting that I want.

The simple answer would be to purchase a copy of QIMacros, but budgets are frozen in the down economy and this is not an option in the near future. As you can see, I can do the chart manually (and pretty fast). I just need to know how to get the line to start where I want it to start!

My apologies for the length of this post, but I've tried all the settings I can think of and can't figure this out.

Thanks,

Charles (Lidsavr)
