I recently took over a company spread sheet from a former employee, who password protected a sheet in a work book. The bad thing is that no one knows the password to change any of the cells. Is there a way to "crack" the password on the sheet?

Excel Facts

What is the fastest way to copy a formula?
If A2:A50000 contain data. Enter a formula in B2. Select B2. Double-click the Fill Handle and Excel will shoot the formula down to B50000.
Yes, but the optimal way will have a cost factor.
That is, you pay per file, or for some software, which-ever is cheaper I guess.

If you are only looking at a password protected sheet, try this code

Sub PassWordBreaker()
'by Bob McCormick on NG: microsoft.public.excel.misc
'on 22 May 2001.

'Breaks worksheet password protection.
Dim i As Integer, j As Integer, k As Integer
Dim l As Integer, m As Integer, n As Integer
Dim i1 As Integer, i2 As Integer, i3 As Integer
Dim i4 As Integer, i5 As Integer, i6 As Integer

On Error Resume Next
For i = 65 To 66
For j = 65 To 66
For k = 65 To 66
For l = 65 To 66
For m = 65 To 66
For i1 = 65 To 66
For i2 = 65 To 66
For i3 = 65 To 66
For i4 = 65 To 66
For i5 = 65 To 66
For i6 = 65 To 66
For n = 32 To 126
ActiveSheet.Unprotect Chr(i) & Chr(j) & Chr(k) & _
Chr(l) & Chr(m) & Chr(i1) & Chr(i2) & Chr(i3) _
& Chr(i4) & Chr(i5) & Chr(i6) & Chr(n)
If ActiveSheet.ProtectContents = False Then
MsgBox "One usable password is " & Chr(i) & Chr(j) _
& Chr(k) & Chr(l) & Chr(m) & Chr(i1) & Chr(i2) _
& Chr(i3) & Chr(i4) & Chr(i5) & Chr(i6) & Chr(n)
Exit Sub
End If
Next
Next
Next
Next
Next
Next
Next
Next
Next
Next
Next
Next
End Sub

If you have a protected workbook, try this

Sub PasswordBreaker2()

'Breaks workbook password protection.

For i = 65 To 66
For j = 65 To 66
For k = 65 To 66
For l = 65 To 66
For m = 65 To 66
For i1 = 65 To 66
For i2 = 65 To 66
For i3 = 65 To 66
For i4 = 65 To 66
For i5 = 65 To 66
For i6 = 65 To 66
For n = 32 To 126
ActiveWorkbook.Unprotect Chr(i) & Chr(j) & Chr(k) & _
Chr(l) & Chr(m) & Chr(i1) & Chr(i2) & Chr(i3) _
& Chr(i4) & Chr(i5) & Chr(i6) & Chr(n)
If ActiveWorkbook.ProtectStructure = False Then
MsgBox "One usable password is " & Chr(i) & Chr(j) _
& Chr(k) & Chr(l) & Chr(m) & Chr(i1) & Chr(i2) _
& Chr(i3) & Chr(i4) & Chr(i5) & Chr(i6) & Chr(n)
Exit Sub
End If
Next
Next
Next
Next
Next
Next
Next
Next
Next
Next
Next
Next
End Sub

i don't know about add-in *******s but they do have decompilers to put them into plain excel formats. don't know if that's going to help you though.

Oh you'd better run and hide.

You're going to suffer the ire of many a disgruntled add-in programmer with that sort of question. You'll probably not get a better answer than the one firefytr gave you.
