Hi all,
I have a workbook that is on a network drive at work. I want it to be shared so that more than one person can update it.
I have done this.
I also want it to be password protected so that only the few that need to can change data.
However, I cannot do both tasks.
When I password protect a book and then share it, I must unshare it to be able to enter the password to unproctect the book.

this defeats the purpose of being able to protect it.

i`ve attempted to view the help files but i do not want to use vba for this case.

any help would be greatly appreciated

Excel Facts

Save Often
If you start asking yourself if now is a good time to save your Excel workbook, the answer is Yes
If it's on a network you can have your network admin set the rights to the document, so only specific users can open it with Read/Write access.

hey pennysaver, long time no speak,
thanks for the idea.

however, as mr excel says himself, we have to do things without IT helping.

also, i would like for all to be able to see but only a few able to update it. but i need those who can update it to not have to wait for those who are viewing to get out.

i hope i make sense there.

thanks
